For the Nelson Mandela University Graduate Exhibition (Bachelor of Visual Arts, Class of 2023), I was tasked with creating the official poster. My approach was to design a piece that not only announced the event but also celebrated the spirit of community, collaboration, and creativity that defined our class.

The poster captures the graduating class in a vibrant illustration, depicting students at work and unified by a golden ribbon that represents collaboration and creative energy. The striking interplay of gold, blue, black, and white not only echoes Nelson Mandela University’s brand colours but also gives the piece a festive, memorable presence.
Using simplified, geometric forms inspired by Art Deco, the characters are built with shapes, shading, and gradients that suggest atmosphere over detail. The result is a poster that feels both modern and timeless, capturing the spirit of community while standing as an artwork in its own right.
